Steel is a carbon and iron alloy. Steels with at least 10.5 percent chromium, less than 1.2 percent carbon, and other alloying elements are known as stainless steels. This type of iron is mainly protected from rusting and has heat-resistant qualities as a result of the composition.
Stainless steel has a number of attractive qualities that lead to its extensive use in the manufacturing of parts and components in a variety of industries.
Typically, there are 5 main classifications of stainless steel. Each is recognised by the alloying substances that impact their microstructure and are given names.
