Copper extrusion is a manufacturing process that involves shaping copper into a desired profile or form by forcing it through a die orifice under high pressure. This method employs solely compressive, not tensile, forces, allowing for significant deformation of the copper without the risk of fracturing the material.
This process is commonly used in industries such as electrical, automotive, plumbing, and construction. This is in part due to copper’s excellent electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance, and malleability.
For over half a decade, the team at ILF has harboured a visionary aspiration: to reintroduce copper extrusion for busbars to the United Kingdom. This ambitious dream has been a driving force behind our relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation in the realm of copper manufacturing. Central to realising this goal was the strategic decision to invest in a state-of-the-art copper milling machine, a pivotal component enabling us to shape copper into bespoke configurations tailored to the unique needs of our clients.

We can supply flat bar in lengths up to 10 metres. We can produce Copper Flat Bar from 75mm2 up to 3000mm2.
